Session 0 - Carron's Gap

Colder than you bargained for....

Our adventurers met for the first time in Carron's Gap - Helvetica, Saffi, Tishmyl, Alerayas, Xyrmoira, Zojo, and Dirk arrived in this, modest settlement and were promptly informed by the town elder Derrick Cain that if they could assist the settlement in making it through the winter they would be justly compensated.

Winter was harsh - just two months in six of the seven available livestock had been slaughtered for food - and many villagers would have frozen to death were it not for the ingenious snow-insulation engineered by Helvetica. Five months of chill left had left many sick and hungry - but rather than abating the winter raged on ever more ferocious, and what's more the sun refused to rise above the horizon, basking the frozen land in perpetual dusk and darkness.

After much struggle and many villagers dead - including one that was eaten and another, the Elder's only remaining son Samuel Cain, murdered with a haunting message left beside his body. Derrick Cain called the adventurers together and asked that they venture into Ten Towns to see if they can do something, or anything to stop this eternal cold, as the village will not be able to survive much longer.

He bid them goodbye - providing them with directions to the closest town - Easthaven as well as the agreed on sum of gold and cold weather gear that the villagers had made from the game the adventurers had hunted during the long winter.

What does Easthaven have in store for our heroes? And what lies ahead on the cold roads of Icewind Dale?

The townhall and Lac Dinnershere

TL;DR - Owl dream, met Rinaldo, went to City Hall, found books in library and desecrated statue downstairs. Saw name drawn for sacrifice and different name selected, got more information and two gold from the captain. Headed out to docks and got a pair of boats - found the lost fishermen's boat near a cave in the mountainside. Were attacked by a pair of harpies that nearly killed Helvetica as several people fell into the water. Killed the harpies, and decided to take a short rest in the cave to rest and rejuvenate.

Easthaven ho!

Walking through the cold - stumbling his way towards Easthaven along with his companions, Alerayas discovered that Derrick Cain managed to somehow slip a note into his pocket without him knowing. The note mentioned a Bartaban in Easthaven at the White Lady Inn... but before he could finish reading it the group was attacked by a Yeti - who swept up Xyrmoira with fearsome furry fingers and then attempted to flee with its prospective meal. Luckily, the combined power of magic, steel, and Zojo's encouragement felled the beast before it could escape into the snow. They continued on and reached Easthaven, where Xyrmoira took stock of the city using detect magic and noted some dwarf-sized footprints with a tinge of illusion magic - and the group decided to split up to view the city, with Alerayas and Dirk seeking out a church and the rest looking for the White Lady Inn that Elder Cain had mentioned. What they found was more than they bargained for - on their way to the inn they bore wit...
